Its too much like Mystery Science Theater 3000

The experiment is really neat, but the host guys are really annoying. Like the MST3K TV show, I wanted to watch the old movie, not hear the two jackasses try to make jokes about it.

Our local TV station did something similar, for a promotion, by electronically inserting one of our local news "personalities" into Woody Allen's "Sleeper" (1973). As the movie played, this dude wandered among the characters making wisecracks. It was really, really infuriating. It totally ruined the experience.

My wife had never seen the film, and I was really eager for her to see it, but she was so upset by the constant and inane interruptions that she now refuses to watch the film in its original uncut state. She says watching even the uncut original reminds her too much of this episode

"Sleeper" is, in my opinion, one of the funniest movies ever made, and it was butchered by the greed and stupidity of some hick town's broadcast marketing department. They ruined it for my wife, and I was really looking forward to sharing it with her. I can see now why artists are so sensitive about others making minor improvements and edits in their work. ESPECIALLY for commercial purposes.

OK Rob, I don't mean to dump on you for showing this video, it is very interesting science, but it just triggered a very old pet peeve of mine that I needed to have a good rant about.

PS
Another thing about Mystery Science Theater that really steams me is that they expropriated the Gene Barry character's name in the old "War of the Worlds" (1955) film, another one of my all-time favorites. I've always wanted to use that moniker myself as an internet handle, but now I can't because it will just help promote MST3K. AAAAARGH!
