Someone can point a cell phone at someone in Cairo and the film can be all over the world in a day. There are a billion newscasters out there. This is a level of information power that has never existed before.
And granted, it can be misused, but if given a choice of raw data or information that has been carefully edited and massaged through many layers of spinners before reaching us, which is worse?
I have seen a lot of examples of someone trying to lie to us about an event who has been brought up short by amateur evidence taken from a lot of angles besides the propagandist's.
