Re: The Enterprise Project

Back in 1971, I started imagining interstellar travels and the more I grew, the less ambitious those travels became, but at least, there was more realism.
It is very tempting to compare spaceflight with aeroflight and settling in the New World with settling on other planets, but it really isn't that simple! It makes greatly inspiring quotes but they unfortunately only reveal how unprepared we are while we wish for too much.

Nobody was prepared for the view of Earth from the Moon, we all thought we could see the entire universe once in space, but no, there was only the Earth to see!!
We don't find much space opera anymore in bookstores. But we also know a lot more about what's out there!!!!
We have one planet and it's simply not realistic we can send humans to the stars to spread mankind.
Private companies expect short term profit and here, space travel would last eons. Even governments need much shorter term results from such a trip!
We understand evolution, how short our presence on Earth is, we barely grasp the enormous variety of planets, and star systems! These things alone should make us understand why spaceflight isn't flight and why solar system planets aren't new worlds.
