Yes, the end was not good, but I have gotten used to many scifi stories ending with a deux ex machina.
I also watched the Dr Who episode. They had previously said that this apparent mini-series was to be a made for TV movie but I guess they changed their mind, and decided on a mini series
BTW the new Dr Who will be Matt Smith.
At 26 he will I think be the youngest incarnation yet. British casting escapes me sometimes
