I think you can't separate a measure of politics from current events. I could even see this thread becoming political. It would be a stretch but possible. A separate political board would probably gut the CE board and imho it would be an ugly place to hang out.
On the other hand, the Flame board was essentially the political board at the old place but I can envision a dedicated political board becoming worse that flame ever was, (it was not really that bad).
