The Zone Identity

Recently a Zoner's ID came into question- by more than one Zoner.

Robert responded:

During registration, I noted a few Zoners registering new handles. That's their right. You might recall at the old place that the policy was that name changes are OK as long as there's no fraud or confusion or other harm associated with it. I'd object if somebody tried to register a name fraudulently (e.g. somebody else's familiar handle), but beyond that...and specificaly in "****"s case...there's no harm caused by the name change.

My advice is to take "****" at face value--don't try to link this identity with a previous one, just deal, in the present, with this person.

Name changes were OK at the old Zone- as long as you made it known to the community. This "clause" is being ignored.

My problem is, since we can no longer check IP's, we have to trust that in all his spare time, Robert has "vetted" the registered members.

Maybe I don't understand the registration process but I'm wondering why can't someone register on another computer with a free hotmail address and recieve a new account complete with pseudonym. And login with that name whenever they feel like it?
