How similar are the performance requirements for a VTOL sub-orbital craft like Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin and a craft capable of landing people on Mars from orbit? Designing a craft capable of SSTO capability at Mars, would create a baseline design for a lander capable of being used throughout the solar system. as well as suborbital capability here on Earth. Is this what Bezos is planning on?
