Repairing your own Mac
Best website discovery I've made in weeks is IFixit.com
My daughter's old laptop, an aluminum Powerbook G4, was top of the line when I bought it for her for college. It took a lot of wear and tear over four years, and when I gave her a Macbook Pro for grad school it wouldn't take power through the plug, and the optical drive was shot.
So I decided to fix the old one, something I wasn't brave enough to do when it was her only computer. This website was what I needed. Sells parts, and has detailed photographic step-by-step instructions for disassembly and replacement.
Fixed it! And for a lot less than the quotes I was given at repair shops.
