I floated a similar proposal regarding CurrentEvents a while ago, to split off a child "Politics" board. I didn't get much feedback, but what I got was stereotypical: ^Tom wrote that everything is politics, so how can you separate politics from current affairs? I actually find that to be a good argument for the split, since it shows how thoroughly politics has corrupted so many aspects of life out there, and has polluted the discussion in here.^

I remember that discussion. It kind of folded up when people had trouble coming up with any important current event that didn't have politics wrapped up in it, usually on several levels. Even space flight is a political issue as long as politicians are paying for it. Not the world I want to live in, but there it is. If you want to keep politics out of current events forums, it's certainly possible if you simply relate news headlines with no analysis at all. You know, just a link that says "Here." 😁
