A few thoughts on Roberts comments:

I agree with a lot of what you say and don't have a major problem with any of it.

I mildly disagree on the subcategory forums. Subcategories tend to become unused categories which requires more moderation or just ignoring the misplacement. I particularly feel that Scvifi has earned the right to be a stand alone forum based on it's use and the affinity of most of our members for the subject.

The flash format seems to have potential but nothing I have seen so far is superior to the Tikiwiki interface. In fact flash is unusable in it current state of development.

Eliminate the themes that don't work. They are just themes. Planetfall is popular but if it can't be made perfect scrap it. Themes are only an issue because they are an option.

Not sure about the public/nonpublic debate I still prefer membership but what I had in mind was something simpler that the vetting process we are using. I mean let them register and post the main thing is we control the IP address, the usernames and have the ability to ban problem members and really mean it.

I would never bother to post under the current anonymous set-up where I post and somebody, sometime reads my post and approves it an hour or 3 days later. It is all but insulting imo.
