😢I got up at 4 am to see NOTHING! I know the scientist seem happy with the results, but from the point of view of the public's expectations it was a bust. We were giving the impression, especially from the animations of the impact, showing a bright flash and debris flying out in all directions that it would be visible with 14" telescopes, and as far as I know no one saw anything. Watching the pictures sent back from the LCROSS spacecraft itself on the NASA TV absolutely nothing showed up. No flash, and no ejecta nothing. It was as if it was swallowed by a black hole. It appears that the only telescopes that had a chance of seeing anything were the large professional ones.
The post impact news conference had the principal scientist talking about all this stuff they saw but the public is going to be a bit miffed because we were given the impression we would see a lot more.
Now I'm going back to bed and get some sleep.
