TB is not a serious debater
Here is a post he made over on CE that is so convoluted and full of distortions and out right lies I find it difficult to even address. But I will for the defense of honesty.
Chavez and Ghadaffi think Obama's the best president ever, and have said so. Russia is consolidating its power after we cut Eastern Europe off at the knees. China is laughing all the way to the bank as we go trillions further in debt. Israel is on its own, and knows it. The Taliban are waiting for Obama to bail out of Afghanistan, and our troops over there are waiting in vain for support from their Commander in Chief.
Chavez and Ghadaffi are third world clowns. They represent no threat to us and if they prefer Obama’s style of diplomatic engagement to Bush’s global unilateral militarism, so what? Our ALLIES overwhelmingly prefer it as well. Is America surrendering to the mighty Venezuelan and Libyan armies? Should we start carpet bombing them to make sure they hate us more?
What is Russia “consolidating Are Russian tanks rolling over Eastern Europe and re-establishing the Warsaw pact? Many foreign policy experts have long argued that it is unwise to expand NATO right up to the borders of Russia because it does nothing for our security but it does stoke Russian paranoia about our intentions. Consider this: If the Cold War had ended in their favor, and they decided to add Western Europe, Canada and Mexico to the Warsaw Pact, would we consider that a purely defensive move? Moving NATO right to the Russian border only empowers the hardliners in Moscow. Whatever the case, the claim they are “consolidating†power in any way outside their own borders is simply false.
China is laughing as we go trillionS further in debt? China owns ONE trillion in US bonds and they bought those during the years the GOP was in power. Where was this concern during the Bush years TB? That is when the vast majority of this debt was accrued. Or are you trying to claim all of this suddenly occurred under Obama?
Israel on its own? Obama stood in front of the entire Muslim world and said America’s commitment to Israel is unbreakable. Netanyahu recently said that not a single day goes by under this presidency when there are not policy consultations at very senior levels between the US and Israel. I have been very clear for years about my personal support for Israel, but I also believe that doesn’t mean we give them a blank check to do whatever they want, as Bush did. Obama is actually seeking to resolve the 60 year conflict between Israel and its neighbors, not just to improve our relations with the Arab world, but for Israel’s own long term security. Most American Jews agree with this and support Obama’s policy. He isn’t waiting until his last year in office to attempt this as Clinton and Bush did. He’s starting the process his first year. Yet more proof the man is actually trying to solve problems and not put them off.
The Taliban waiting for America to bail out? Troops in Afghanistan waiting in vain for support? Bush virtually ignored Afghanistan in favor of his misadventure in Iraq. The trouble we have there now is due to the neglect of the Bush years. When Obama took office the generals said they needed 20k more troops to stabilize the situation. He sent them in. Now they want 40k more. Should he send them in without any policy review or consultation? There’s just been an election there that hasn’t even been certified because of widespread claims of fraud. The policy of waiting to see how that plays out in the next few weeks before making a decision on troops is not only wise, it puts pressure on the Afghan government to get their shit together.
TB throws out partisan bullshit constantly without any attempt to honestly assess pros and cons, or to seriously debate policy matters. The man has no intellectual honesty.
