We DID a surge in Afghanistan. Because it hasn't had the effect we hoped so far, I LIKE the fact Obama and his team are doing a careful review before making a decision involving sending tens of thousands of more troops. Again, the Afghan election is also an issue here. Had it not been steeped in fraud on the scale of what happened in neighboring Iran I think the decision to send more troops would be a lot easier. As it is it makes sense to wait a couple more weeks until it is sorted out. Do we want the people of Afghanistan thinking we are supporting an illegitimate regime?

Further your claims of our troops there being left out to dry is massively hypocritical given the YEARS commanders on the ground there were denied additional troop requests because of the focus on Iraq.
