I'm not nit-picking, but just where is Western Antarctica? The continent is roughly circular, no matter where on the coast you are, if you face north, west will be to your left. Maybe you mean the peninsula that pokes north to South America? It has an east and a west side. But New Zealand can be reached from there going either way.
