Thats a totally fair comment, I was just surprised by the vehemence of your first post. As you say I don't think the question will be well answered until we have a seperate and more solid line of evidence.
I'm glad to hear that he and his team are given a modicom of respect and civility at conferences. A lot of the people working in this field are names I look up to, so it'd be upsetting for me to think they would act badly.
