The Democratic Party has had, until very recently, 60 votes in the Senate, enough to pass anything at all over the heads of the Republicans. If the Republicans ever got a majority that size - something that's never happened - Democrats like you would be hauling the short sword through your own guts screaming about the end of human civilization.
