I could repost the iconic "Get a brain Morans!" picture once again, or dissect the statistical improbability that 600 teabaggers are white by accident. But perhaps some compassion is in order.

Teabaggers are America's misunderstood PTSD sufferers. Post-traumatic stress disorder. They're the victims of terrorism, and we don't like to talk about them, because to do so would open a painful can of worms indeed.

They're the victims of international terrorism, on 9/11/2001.

They're the victims domestic terrorism, worn down, their nerves totally shot, from 8 years of fearmongering by demagogues.

This population of stressed-out senior white folks was already future-shocked before 9/11, already discontented with the modern world, with kids these days, and creeping socialism, and rising taxes, and declining standards and trash on TV and bad language on the radio, and televangelists and rightwing demagogues telling them that their very religion was under assault by the Democratic minions of Satan...bin Laden whacked them hard for a day, then Cheney and Bush and their gang picked up the baton and have been whacking them every day since.

So yeah, now they march around, enraged, waving their fists, shedding hysterical tears for a lost America of their imagined childhoods, nerves shot, out of their minds with fear and future shock...poor little primates, yeah, I do feel some compassion for them. But not so much I'll turn the future of my country over to people not in a sane frame of mind.
