Then this writer tries somewhat pathetically to save the meme by stating that somehow Shelby's hold, obviously done for selfish political reasons, is completely different from those by Reid and others, also obviously done for selfish political reasons. When they got down to nitpicking about whether or not national security candidates are in the mix, or whether or not the hold was at the beginning or end of a term, you know the meme has died, and flies are already landing on its eyeballs.
