Not all democrats want a single payer system. Many just want the government to offer health care insurance as an alternative to private policies.
I acknowledge that SOME Democrats want a single payer system. Can you acknowledge their motivation is not some lust for power, but because they object to for-profit health care system we currently have that discriminates against the sick? They want everyone to have health care, especially the sick people who need it most; they want to control the costs; they want to remove the insurance middleman skimming off the system.
Any nationalized health care system, like medicare, medicaid, the VA, is a health care delivery system, not a "total government control of health care." Doctors are still private businesses. Most hospitals are private. The manufacturers of healthcare products and equipment are private. The difference is how it is all paid for: Out of people's taxes (like so many other services), or out of people personal pockets and into their insurance company's.
Do you understand this distinction? It is an important one.
