Ferry workers paid to drive to work

Why were they offered this benefit in the first place. Take away the wage but pay them the standard .35 per mile. There's no reason to charge them to ride the ferries.
I think we should pay any lawmaker $500 for every $10,000 they cut. We need to change the mentality that it's not worth the bother to make cuts if they don't amount to millions or in the case of the federal government, billions.
