That explains why...

People are constantly offering to buy our EuroVan. I mean all the time. I'll come out of a store and there will be someone standing next to it, peeking through the windows waiting to talk to me. I had a guy knock on our front door, wanting to make an offer on the van, claiming that he'd put it to better use than we do. We talked for awhile, and tried to convince him we were not interested in selling. Three months later, he was back, nearly begging, with his check book at the ready. He again made the agruement that we didn't use it enough, he would, so it be better if he owned it. Yikes. Took me ten minutes to convince him that we were not interested. When we bought it, new, back in '99, we hunted all over the state to find one, finally tracking one down a few hours north of here, which had arrived on the lot that morning. We bought it and drove off before they could even apply their dealer advertising sticker on the back.

I don't need to tell you the virtues of this vehicle. If I ever do decide to sell it, you'll have right of first offer. But don't get your hopes up. Keep your eye out for a used one. If I see one, I'll let you know.

Thanks for the info. Tariffs are a dangeous tool even when sharp and skillfully used. When blunt or crudely employed, they often wind up causing more trouble than good. A strong argueement can be made for Tariffs being the cause of the American Civil War (AKA The War of Northern Aggression) more than the issue of slavery.
