Someone investigating this would need a lot more information.
- How many instances are true pedophilia (sexual abuse of a child?)
- How many instances are essentially statutory rape (sexual activity with or abuse of a teenage minor)?
- How do the percentages of these crimes compare with those in the general population?
- How do the percentages of pedophilic OR gay priests compare with percentages in the general population?
This information would be needed for a full analysis of the problem. It is, however, clear that way too much covering up has been going on.
