I'm disgusted by the whole thing and have refused to give the Church any money since this whole this became public knowledge.

In my view, pedophiles are drawn to the priesthood in the Church because they see it as a place with opportunity for being close to their prey. Young boys have traditionally been chosen to assist the priests and, therefore, are in a particularly vulnerable position. Plus, in bygone days, one did NOT EVER question a priest or complain about him.

There is also an Old Boys' Club Culture in the Church and they will protect their own till hell freezes over. And it finally froze over.

Changes need to come to the Church. The vow of celibacy needs to go, women should be ordained as priests. Otherwise, I see the Church speeding up in its downhill slide.

Which is a shame. I loved the Church and the family I found there. But I will NOT tolerate abuse of children or the hiding of it. There is no excuse. As it stands now, the Catholic Church does not deserve to survive. If it changes, that's another matter. But it won't.
