"Racial profiling" is one of many liberal buzz phrases. What does it mean, exactly?

You can go a long way out of your way pretending that the obvious isn't true, and Lord knows liberals make a career out of pretending the obvious isn't true, but any policy that deals with illegal immigration over our southern borders is going to have to deal with the fact that most illegal immigrants that come over the southern borders are Hispanic.

Whether you like it or not, a cop is going to look at two people hanging out on a corner looking for drive-by work and assume that the Hispanic guy is more likely to be illegal than the white redhead with freckles.

This doesn't say that cops rousting them and asking for papers is the ideal approach. I'd like to see more emphasis on rousting employers myself, but the idea that "racial profiling" is somehow invalid doesn't stand up. If a cop was looking for a Klansman, he would be looking for white guys.
