In Arizona, and in Phoenix the area is set up like a big grid. All streets go north-south and east-west. After only a year here I already knew where the cut-off lines were for safe traveling and which areas were home to the 1/2 million illegals.
What they don't tell you about Phoenix and Arizona is that the police presence is almost nil when compared to California. You don't see highway patrol cars on the freeways every other minute like in CA. You don't see anywhere near the police presence. Some cities here have about 100 officers to cover a population of 300,000 people. Now with the foreclosures by the JILLIONS - the tax base has been completely destroyed and the cities have a tough time holding on to the expenditure levels they were making in 2005. It's the wild west all over again and in August you will not need a license for a concealed weapon. This will be an interesting development, but in the end will probably lead to more deadly confrontations as if it were 1886 again.
As a result of this lack of police presence, the Mexican drug cartels have moved in full force. Its easier to do so here than in CA. The police are hopelessly outnumbered, outgunned and outspent. Drugs houses are popping up in the many empty, foreclosed homes. Its a paradise for the cartels - when one house is shut down during the day they have an alternate set up somehere in the same hood by evening.
These smugglers are getting more vicvious and bold. After a rancher was murdered by a smuggler, people started paying more attention. Only a few days ago a deputy was shot by a coyote. It's like having an Al Qaeda network in one's own state.
The majority of legal Arizonans overwhelmingly support the law. And many states are starting to experience what we have experienced here - where whole neighborhoods are taken over in a matter of a few years and become "New Tijuana" bringing with it all that implies - desperate poverty, people who (unfortunately) have never seen a condom before in their life, carjackers, drug smugglers, rapists, murderers and thieves.
Its a numbers game. It's really too late to save the USA unless we end birth citizenship to the children of illegal aliens. They reproduce like rabbits regardless of the poverty they curse their children with.
Like a lifeboat - once too many jump in the lifeboat sinks and no one is saved. We're already there. This legislation was written on wet paper with the boat half under water.
