"...clip of the end of 2001 set to "Echos"?
I'm not quite sure what you meant by that. Is that like the playing of "Dark Side of the Moon"
so that the music synchs with "The Wizard of OZ"?
Of course, if you're tripping, any music will synchronize with any film.
After all, it's all in your mind, you know, and the mind is designed to see patterns even if none exist.
Funny you should mention "Echoes". I always used to riff on a really sci-fi vision
that tune invoked in my mind. After the sonar pings at the beginning, there's a long rolling
part in the middle that precipitated really strange images in my head.
The scene was an alien planetary landscape, a huge dim red sun covered with huge sunspots half-filled a dark purple sky,
it's edges blurry, gradually merging with the space around it, a distant red supergiant,
or perhaps a very close-by red dwarf, and great violet giraffe-like creatures ran rhythmically
across an endless plain covered with tall maroon grasses waving in ripples under a gale-force wind.
The Floyd could always implant dramatic and spectacular visual imagery into your mind's eye that way.
They are far superior in that respect to barbershop quartets.
