I, too, have a reluctance to toss out something. It's the same syndrome as Alice's White Knight. You never know if you might need it!
My problem is that I pick something up, realize it needs to be properly organized or dealt with instead of simply shoved someplace else, and I get sidetracked. Or something else catches my attention and I realize I have another unrelated job to do. Or I just get sidetracked, period. You can tell when I'm supposed to be organizing my books or comics if you come in and I'm on the floor engrossed in one.
It helps if you have storage room, a "place for everything" as it were. I don't. I would give a lot to have a basement, or a house with one of those attics you see in movies, a gigantic room with a peaked roof and a window at the end. Crap, I would have turned it into an extra office or something. My biggest fantasy has always been a large house with rooms for everything.
