The actual reason for this is when media people interview conservative protestors, the reporters usually end up embarrassing themselves. This shows up in places like YouTube, but not so much on the newcasts.
For example, that 54 percent figure for military spending in the linked article is what we like to call back home "a whopper."
They cooked the figures several ways to arrive at that percentage, not least of which was simply ignoring entitlements like Social Security as not being "real spending," as though there actually WAS a "trust fund" out there. More fun with numbers: assign 80 percent of our current national debt to military spending. Why? Why not?
You can go here, and check out numbers for yourself. Table 3.1 is recommended. And, of course, as far as "too much spending" goes, there's the uncomfortable fact that the Federal Government was handling all of its functions just fine back in 1974 when the budget was about a third what it is now, in constant dollars. ( Table 1.3, same document.) Hard to believe NONE of the rest is "fat."
See? If the author of that stupid article had "interrogated" me I would have humiliated him. And that was just one paragraph in that article. Much better for them just to avoid camera interviews altogether and look around for weird signs to take pictures of.
