I recycle my stuff too. I have a two-part bin for paper on one side, and cans and bottles on the other. I have a big bin for garbage, and yet a third big bin for leaves and other plant matter.

I don't mind this. It's not much work, since I just put the stuff in the right bin to start with (I don't have to "sort" anything). So far no Trash Cop is sifting through my trash to make sure I'm being a Good Citizen.

"Everything not forbidden is compulsory" seems to be a foundational principle of the "progessives" who like to make laws like that. I think as time goes on, people are beginning to see the totalitarian fist under the fuzzy velvet glove.
