It's still a great gift
Jody's right, of course. I ignore ads and promotions for at least a couple of months after purchasing electronics. The other way lies madness!
My wife has an iPod Touch, 8G I think. An older model now, but she loves it to bits and everytime I see it I'm completely blown away by the amazing picture quality, the terrific, solid design and the really high calibre of the available software. Those are qualities that don't become obsolete.
I make fun of Apple, but there's no denying that they turn out really great stuff. I bet your wife will love it.
