There's a LOT going on. A fundamental sea-change in how Americans view government - of ANY party. The Republican Washington establishment is sweating as hard as the Democrats. The biggest rant about the results of the Delaware primary came from Karl Rove(!).
In 2008, there was much triumphant trumpeting about the "death of conservatism." In 2008 the "progressives" finally got enough overwhelming political power that they could finally start America on the Great Leap Forward into socialism that they had long hoped for.
Neither of these things is going to be happening now. And that's the good news, whatever else comes out of the elections.
