You're not rehashing.

NUMBERS was a CBS show where the older brother is an FBI Special Agent, head of a squad, and his brother a mathematical genius. When a certain case comes along, the FBI brother asks his genius brother for assistance on a case. From this case, the consulting grows to the point where the genius brother spends more time helping the FBI with applied mathematics than doing his University work. It was quite a good show and I picked up a thing or two about the usefulness of mathematics from it. Reruns are now on TNT on weeknights at 3:00 and 4:00 a.m. (CDT) (It's nice to be retired since I no longer have a way to tape shows which is probably a good thing since I don't waste too much time on television). David Krumholz, who played Mr. Universe (the computer genius) in the movie version of Firefly, Serenity, played the genius brother while Rob Morrow (of Northern Exposure fame) played the FBI brother.

That's an interesting back story on Heisenberg. Too often we don't look further than a person's work, but their personal history gives life to the work. I've been reading about his professional disagreements with another physicist of the day and Einstein's remark about "God not paying dice with the Universe." One article was on how Quantum Memory may topple the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. Fun!
