Not sure about the reason for the rule in the first place. Is not donating supposed to give viewers the impression that MSNBC anchors do not favor one political side over another? That's a hoot. Suspending Olbermann for this is severe overkill, but it may be due to the raving dementia infesting MSNBC right now. It will probably blow over.
My view is that anybody should be able to donate to the candidate or cause of their choice, as long as it's completely transparent.
