I value human life as it's meant to be lived. And that's as free people, not on their knees as the property of the State.
A well-kept zoo animal lives a much longer and healthier life than one in the wild. Does this mean we would be doing animals a favor by putting as many as possible in zoos?
I've explained a number of times in the past that the actual goal of things like "single-payer" health care is to give the government an unbreakable leash around our necks. When our health care is universally "public," this kind of micro control will become the norm, not the exception. Particularly here in the U.S., where I'm beginning to think we have bred a political class that's even more authoritarian than most. For example, Canada (at least at present) doesn't seem to have the fascistic control-freak trend we're seeing in American political circles. Hell, Canada doesn't even have a national school lunch program.
