Evidently there's a new Repulican rule requiring bills to pass constitutional muster before leaving the house. Barney Frank called it: ^"an air kiss they're [Republicans] blowing to the Tea Party." "Anything we're doing that's unconstitutional will be thrown out in court." ^
Who the hell voted for this guy? Do we really need a congressman that doesn't take his job seriously? Someone who doesn't care if he writes garbage that will end up clogging the courts?
All congressmen take this oath at the start of each new cogress:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same...
Looks like Barney sees the oath as just another stunt.
Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), on the reading of the Constitution-“ ^a ritualistic reading†on the floor was “total nonsense†and “propaganda.†^
I wonder how many Americans felt the same way?
Nadler also said:
^“A lot of the tea party people, I wonder how many of them have read the Constitution,†he said. “A lot of them, they seem to think the Constitution is the Articles of Confederation.â€^
A smart-ass comment probably refering to the fact there were no federal taxes at the time. Democrats don't seam to realize that, while not espousing all of the tea party platform, the Independants and Moderates are in the same camp.
Go ahead Dems, keep talking...
