Re: Ignorance

Go look up the original function and intent of the "Commerce Clause." Hint: It does NOT mean "the government may take control of any aspect of any commercial activity in the United States for any random idiotic whim."

More on the "Necessary and Proper" clause here. Note the various alternate names given to it, and why. It was also not intended to mean "The government can do anything anytime it wants for any reason." Ambitious statists could twist "necessary and proper" to cover anything, including secret police and gulags.

The fundamental purpose of the Constitution was to strictly limit the powers of the Federal government and maximize the liberty of the states and American citizens.

Unfortunately the fundamental purpose of the modern Democratic Party is to do exactly the opposite, and the Constitution as it was intended is an obstacle to that. Small wonder that the Democrats are pissed by it being brought to everyone's attention and are trying to throw inconsequential chaff in the way like that stupid talking point about "three-fifths of a person," long ago neutralized by a proper amendment process, not some leftist judicial brain fart.

If the preceding outrages you, just show me an example of any major Democratic policy or legislation that does NOT increase the power and wealth accrued to the Federal government and at the same time decrease the freedom, choices, and wealth of the American citizen and the private sector. I can wait.
