If it works I think we should bring back as many species as possible, and if the day comes, we should go full-on Jurassic Park. Extinction isn't some sort of moral judgement on a species, it's just a confluence of events. As SJG used to say, the most advanced fish in the world will go extinct if their lake dries up. Bringing things back isn't flying in the face of nature any more than is trying to preserve existing diversity.
