Maybe so.
There are movements gaining momentum to remove hydro-electric plants on the Columbia and Snake rivers to protect Salmon even though the depletion started in the 1800's.
Salmon catches reached their peak in the 1920's and started their decline due to over fishing and a new technology- canning food.
I mention this because if we keep eliminating sources of electricity over environmental concerns that may not have substantial effects of improving the environment, and prohibit things like wind power on the coast, solar in the desert and nuclear- in the future we may have no choice but to import power (if that even makes sense).
In the mean time, electricity is the most viable method of replacing oil. When was the last time you heard of Hydrogen powered cars? And what happened to T. Boone Picken’s push for natural gas?
So where does that leave us?
