Finding more info

is always a hunt. I'd start with searching the USGS using the name of the 7.5 minute quadrangle for geologic mapping that covers your 'hood. California should be covered at that scale. You might have to buy it, or go to your local university library to find in.

In short, in general, there is no easy answer. Feel free to private message me your map quadrangle name, and I'll see what I can find.

EDIT: This site will not solve your fault finding question, but it is the first place I go when I need a topo or orthorectified air photo. Use the map locator to find your topo.

EDIT 2

If interested in the Bay Area, hold your cursor over any of the faults on this USGS map to get the name of that fault. Other detail maps of California are linked at the bottom.
