Decades ago, Bucky Fuller proposed building a globe that could convey all sorts of data layers to educate and inform the population about our planet. Google Earth has fulfilled that vision, and more.
Here we have a wonderful combination of private enterprise (Google) and govenment (USGS) producing useful information to the general public. Between the two of them, they've made my professional efforts so much easier.
