As with the unions, this is a major power structure for the Democrats, and another mechanism for converting taxpayer money into Democratic donations and support. This isn't about abortion.
In 2008-2009, Planned Parenthood took in about $1 billion in revenue. $405 million of that was Health Center income, $363 million was government funding, and $209.2 million was from private donations and bequests.
