I finished watching it tonight. It was quite good but I certainly see why the Kennedy Clan did not want it aired. It doesn't always put Joe Kennedy in a good light nor Jack. However, they all came through as flawed but real human beings. I was in high school (a Senior) when JFK was elected and I was definitely a follower. I still remember where I was when I heard he had been killed. I was at the White Grill in Nevada, MO, sitting in my car, eating a cheeseburger for lunch before going to my afternoon job (Seniors had Work/Study, 1/2 day in classes, 1/2 day working for the job experience). Tears were streaming down my face.

It's a sad thing how much that family has had to endure. Loss after loss after loss.

I wonder how much of the miniseries was actually truth and how much just made up as "this is what likely happened." I know the facts, such as JFK's affair with Marilyn and her believing they'd be married, etc. This miniseries made the cause and effect of all the major events into a well-drawn web of power and politics and the art of making dangerous enemies. It was quite good and I'm glad I watched it but it has made me sad again.
