Heres something else that might interest some of you,
I am looking at some images taken from the ceiling beams
of a 3000yr old New Kingdom Temple, a few hundred miles
south of Cairo and the Giza Plateau, at Abydos.
Anyway its shows carvings of what looks EXACTLY like an
Apache Helicopter! next one looks like a Submarine and
the one after is a spaceship or air blimp.
These can be found at:-

Thought so:
palimpsest \PAL-ump-sest\, noun:
1. A manuscript, usually of papyrus or parchment, on
which more than one text has been written with the
earlier writing incompletely erased and still visible.
2. An object or a place whose older layers or aspects are
apparent beneath its surface
That's what happened to that wall at Abydos.
Apparently, that missleading story about the glyphs being
copters, subs, etc., and passing it as truth is nothing
but a hoax. It's been passed on as that for a while now.
I found this web site, although it's in German, if you
scroll down to the bottom, you'll find some excellent
responses, in English.

It was Ramsess the II's way of claiming the temple during
his reign after Seti. Later, the Ramsess men went on to
build their own (very elaborate) temples.

yea, anything but a helicopter to contain the hysteria
of knowing we're not the first. Yipee!
As if they would say it is. (shoved to the bottom of the
pile until me or someone like me comes and takes it to
the top)again!

Scott's aim was to deceive. Darn right, it makes me mad. He posted this to a public board KNOWING that it was a hoax and then hoped that it would scroll away so that he or someone else would post it again in hopes that some innocent person would believe this crap.
I took art history and Egyptology was a favorite subject of mine. The logical and right explanation was, palimpsest. Ramses II, (as well as the III) had a huge ego and had his scribes 'write' over homage pertaining to Seti, his father. Palimpsest, (to write, paint or carve over existing work) was a very common practice among Egyptian scribes and artists of that time. A difficult task when their aim was to place an immortal mark on this world.
I'm glad deceit didn't even work for Ramsess.
