A pronunciation guide would be nice, of course. Irish is at least as unfathomable as Welsh to somone not already familiar with how the dipthongs should be uttered... but I've heard similar complaints about English, too - there seem to be as many exceptions as there are rules.
There's an old joke about immigrants to America learning English for citizenship - it may even be in on of those wonderful "M*y*r*o*n C*o*h*e*n" stories from the 40s (wish I could remember the author's name): Two adult ESL students are standing in front of a Broadway theater. One points to a poster near the entrance and complains loudly, "I give up!!!"
The poster reads: "Pygmalion pronounced success!"

The Mallacht site has some funny possibilities: "May an alien being satirize your cornflakes"???? LOL!
