These BBS scripts are pathetic. If you guys are going to set the entire frame from scripts, you need to add a few more features like cut and paste, maybe a word processor, hell, just implement and entire Netscape Composer Interface, in addition to fixing the operating system, screen size and browser autodetection.
Greg's photo is as good as any place to start. This is slumping and runoff, just as it is everywhere else on the planet, radically different than the observed CO2 sublimation happening at the poles. Now, compare the presumed temperature and atmospheric pressure regimes, past and present. I'm really sorry to break it to you, but Nick's fundamental premises are fundamentally flawed, at almost every fundamental level. That little crater is a dead givaway. No 'special pleadings' are required. In fact, a little intuition will suffice. Perhaps you lack the required glial cells. What the hell do you think that material inside of the buried crater is? Carbon Dioxide? How do you propose it got there, and how do you explain the difference in morphology of this material, and the known CO2 deposits at the poles? What a tangled web you weave, and good luck weaving your way out of it.
So you think that my website is the sum total of my life's work. It's a science and alternative energy advocacy website, for children like you. I would have died and gone to heaven if I had something like that when I was a kid, so I've created something for the next generation of condensed matter physicists, something a little more accessible than the CRC handbook of chemistry and physics. It sure as hell beats carrying that damn book around. What do you expect, a comprehensive list of every textbook and scientific paper I've ever read, and every calculation I've ever made?
You ectoweenies need to start preparing yourselves for the inevitable, and when it occurs, I can at least have a clear conscience about having warned you. If I'm wrong, so what? Believe me, I have NOTHING to lose. However, the evidence is OVERWHELMINGLY in favor or water ice, thus, bacterial life at some time in Mars' past becomes an almost trivial deduction. The answers are in the photos.
Nick says dry ice, I say water ice. Nick cites special circumstances, I sight the obvious, the MGS photos. I even go a bit further, I claim the missing water is in the upper crust itself, in the form of glacial plates, glacial volcanic shields and crater infill, and then all of the photographic evidence falls into place.
I sure hope you guys have a sense of humor in the coming months and years, you'll need it to preserve your sanity.
