Flame » in reply to Microshit Internet Explorer 6 SUCKS !!!

Ya gotta go with what works

My first impressions of IE6 were unfavorable too, but the standard system upgrades seem to help stabalize it. Now I've got it running under several Win OSs--98,ME,2k,XP. The thing is, when IE stumbles it does a complete faceplant (extremely rare under 2k and XP, in my experience).

Netscape 6, on the other hand, just gets quirky and funky. Pages will display one way upon initial load, then differently upon reload (single pixel lines--whether images or code-generated--seem especially suseptible to N6's whims). Not fatal errors, but certainly annoying for a developer. If Netscape wasn't increasingly compliant with the W3C DOM, I wouldn't even want to talk about it.

Anyway, given the shape of the browser market, we've been allowed by management to all but ignore Netscape, which accounts for a tiny percentage of our traffic. The only real reason we keep an eye on it at all is because AOL will likely switch from an IE-based to a Mozilla-based browser.
