"Midwest" is a funny term...
when applied to states like Ohio. What is Ohio west of besides New York and those piss-ant New England states? Hell, here in Colorado, we have counties larger than Rhode Island.
Looking at the map, it's certainly appropriate to describe Nebraska as midwest or simply "middle". I'd use midwest for such "western" states as Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, and the like which are west of the middle. Ohio would be more accurately discribed as "mideast" than midwest.
