<Remember college? Everyone was poor, and everyone was happy. Or some third-world countries? Everyone is in the same boat, because no one had anything. Villages, tribes, people in the same communities can get along very well, happily, because there isn't much of a difference between what each of them has, relatively.

I was poor in college, and I thought it sucked. I see a lot of poor people who seem happy despite their problems, but I have never met any who didn't wish they weren't poor.

As for the Third World, I guess throughout history no one in the Third World ever raided another group or tribe to get their stuff. And no chief ever had more stuff than his tribesmen. Get real.

And you still have some very odd ideas about how "happy" people in squalid nations are.
