What?

Let's say you are buying a small business. The owner takes you to his CPA who tells you the numbers are good, then to his lawyer who says there are no liabilities you don't know about.

However, the CPA has good reason to know the numbers are bad. The lawyer has good reason to know there are liabilities.

You buy the business. It tanks. You have been defrauded, partly because you trusted the word of these licensed professionals.

You trot off to the police, tell your story.

The cop looks you in the eye, and says, "You think that's bad? How about my Social Security? Now, that's bad. Let me tell you how much I've paid into that scam."

You seem to imply that since there is Social Security there cannot be any other white collar crime which should be corrected.
