Chromsky is defending the swamp...i.e. Iraq and Sadam Hussain by attacking the Bush administration and the current leadership in Pakistan.
Chromsky chooses to ignore that Pakistan is taking serious steps toward Democracy and becoming a good world citizen. It isn’t happening overnight; however, since Bush has started to put pressure on the Pakistani’s they have made a tremendous amount of progress by working together in the War on Terror. Yet Noam Chromsky uses Pakistan as an example of where Bush’s Foreign policy gets in the way of Democracy.
There’s a newsflash I must have missed…Do you mean Pakistan was seriously headed toward Democracy before Bush and the events of 9/11? If the Chromsy view is to be believed, Pakistan would simply bloom into a Democratic Butterfly if only Bush and his misguided war on terror would stop and get out of the way. What a joke Chromsky makes of himself with such a ridiculous argument. Chromsky makes up his own set of facts to support his invalid argument. To believe this argument one must first agree with his assumption that it is the United States that stands in the way of Democracy. Chromsky ignores the fact that the government of Pakistan was on the brink of collapse before 9/11.
If Chromsky’s world view is to be accepted. Sadam would seek Democracy if only the US would back off and allow him some breathing room. But no, instead the United States is killing Iraq’s starving children. The US is responsible for every corrupt dictator in the history of the Middle East. The US is stirring up resentment in the poor people of Mexico. The US wants war…Any War…and doesn’t care who or where the enemy in that war is. The US is the source of all Evil and as such, the root cause of the events of 9/11.
For Chromsky, if the United States would just go away, there would be Peace on Earth.
Noam Chromsky is stuck in a time warp and recycles the same old ‘Hate America First” claptrap. As such, I can’t take anything he writes seriously.

P.S. Did I mention: God its great to be an American at such a pivotal time in our history!
